~  OUR MISSION  ~
 

The chartered statement of purpose/mission of the Southold Historical Society is to:

a. To create and promote interest and to further knowledge in history, education,
    and culture;

b. To acquire, preserve and exhibit historic relics;

c. To acquire and maintain housing and sites for preservation and exhibition;

    and

d. To promote the preservation of historic structures and sites.

To do this, the Society maintains a Headquarters and Archive, as well as a number of historically significant buildings which exhibit some of the Society's vast collections.
